Page 10 TORY TALK with Ken Hargreaves Labour attacks the "quiet, decent" club drinkers Clubs play an important part in the life of the local community - yet Gordon Brown's Labour Government seems to have a death wish for them. First came the attack on jackpot gaming machines, then came the Smoking Ban despite the Labour manifesto promise to allow clubs to make their own decisions. The latest attack comes in the form of swingeing price increases announced by Alistair Darling in his Budget. The Government should direct it's attack on binge drinking, which wastes so much of the resources of the police and National Health Service. The Government should not attack the decent folk who want a quiet pint in their llocal club.
