6 WORLD CHAMPION IN DENBIGH TEAM
Mark (24) won this year's Lakeside World Darts Championship by beating Australian Simon Whitlock seven sets to five. He received a magnificent trophy - and an £85,000 prize. Mark, a trainee plumber, plays for the Denbigh Conservative Club team in the Clwyd, North Wales, Darts Super League. He started competitive darts some six years ago having played since he was 16 and been spotted by the local darts league secretary. Bob Rowlands, Secretary of the Denbigh Conservative Club, says that they are extremely proud of Mark's achievement to win the championship at such an early age. Locally, darts seems to be growing in popularity and the Conservative Club is now used for finals of league matches and presentations. Mark is the third Welshman to win the trophy but the first from North Wales.
